SSP & POA&M Buildout

Documentation should describe reality. We build or rebuild your system security plan (SSP) and plan of action and milestones (POA&M) from the assessed environment: what exists, what's missing, who owns it and when it will close. We never write a control as implemented without supporting evidence.

Starting price

from $12,500

Available after a Readiness Assessment.

Final scope and price are confirmed in a written SOW after discovery.

Who it's for

  • You've completed a Level 2 Readiness Assessment, with ForgePoint or an equivalent review.
  • Your SSP is incomplete, out of date or filled from a template.
  • Your POA&M items have no owners, no dates or no risk context.
  • Leadership wants documentation that will hold up to a self-assessment and annual affirmation.

Questions it answers

  • Does the SSP describe how each requirement is actually met today?
  • Is every POA&M item owned, dated and tied to risk?
  • Which claims in the documents lack evidence, and what has to be produced?
  • Who owns each requirement: you, your MSP or a vendor?

Deliverables

What you receive

  1. 01

    System security plan

An SSP aligned to NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2, written from your environment, not a generic template.
  2. 02

    POA&M with owners and dates

Each open item with an owner, risk context, milestones and a realistic close date, built against the 32 CFR 170 rules on which requirements may sit on a Level 2 POA&M.
  3. 03

    Responsibility statements

What you, your MSP and each provider own, written into the SSP.
  4. 04

    Evidence gap list

What evidence exists, what's missing and what has to be created to support each statement.
  5. 05

    Your score, recalculated

We recalculate your score with the official DoD method (32 CFR 170.24) once the SSP and POA&M reflect what operates, and guide your affirming official through entering it in SPRS. Your affirming official is responsible for what's submitted, and a false affirmation carries legal risk.

How it runs

The engagement, step by step

  1. 01

    Intake

Confirm the boundary, findings, existing documents and provider stack from your assessment.
  2. 02

    Document review

Review the current SSP, policies, procedures and evidence through the approved route.
  3. 03

    SSP build

Write or rewrite the SSP to match how controls actually operate.
  4. 04

    POA&M structure

Structure the open items with owners, priorities, milestones and dates.

Typical timeline

4–6 weeks

Shorter when a recent readiness assessment already exists; longer for complex or multi-provider environments.

Not included

  • A certification decision, a guaranteed assessment result or an official assessment. ForgePoint is a readiness advisor, not a C3PAO.
  • Legal interpretation of contracts, DFARS clauses or CUI markings.
  • Technical remediation. The buildout documents gaps and plans their closure; it doesn't implement fixes.
  • Writing a requirement as met when there is no evidence that it is.

The next step

Next: the Fractional CMMC Program Lead

An SSP and POA&M stay accurate only if someone keeps them current. The Program Lead tracks POA&M closure, reviews evidence quarterly and prepares the annual affirmation.
